This course aims to equip educators with the knowledge and tools needed to seamlessly integrate sustainability, inclusivity, and lifelong learning into their teaching practices. Over the course of six workshops, participants will delve into a wide array of topics, including the 12 principles of a sustainable mindset, the application of sustainability principles both within and beyond the educational setting, and the relevance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in education. Participants will explore practical strategies for fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment, and they will develop sustainability-focused teaching methods such as project-based, place-based, and community-based learning. The course will connect local environmental and social issues in the UAE to global sustainability challenges. Through reflection on personal beliefs and practices, as well as collaborative activities, educators will be prepared to promote environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic viability in their classrooms, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and equitable future. After completing this course, participants should be able to:

• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the 12 principles of a sustainable mindset and their importance in education
• Reflect on personal sustainability beliefs and practices and develop an action plan to implement the 12 principles in classrooms and the school community.
• Develop an awareness of the global challenges addressed by the SDGs and their local implications, particularly in the UAE.
• Implement sustainability-focused teaching strategies, such as project-based learning, place-based learning, and community-based learning.
• Promote an inclusive and equitable learning environment, understanding barriers to inclusivity and equity.
• Design comprehensive sustainability projects for the classroom, connecting local environmental or social issues to global sustainability challenges and the SDGs.
