The Covid-19 pandemic has prompted many institutions and governments to reconsider the quality and level of decisions that are taken because they have a direct impact on people’s lives.
It is clear that along with other sectors, the education sector needs strong foresight to be able to build solid systems that enhance readiness for unexpected events, and ensure efficacy in reading indicators that predict emergency events. It should also come up with contingency plans and an urgent need to establish mechanisms and systems that can withstand the unexpected, with commitment to the quality of educational and pedagogical processes at the same time.
In this five-week course therefore, participants will explore the importance of foresight and strategies to use when developing educational plans for the learning process through a set of skills needed in times of crisis (“anticipating the unexpected”).
After completing this course, participants should be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding the concept of proactive planning and its importance
- Analyse the basics, applications and skills needed for proactive educational planning in times of crisis (stages, areas, and priorities)
- Discuss the role of educational planners
