Assessment in AI Era

Assessment for Learning in the AI Era is a professional development program designed to equip educators with the knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding to leverage artificial intelligence effectively and responsibly in classroom assessment. Through five interactive sessions, teachers will explore the integration of AI in formative assessment design, data interpretation, feedback generation, and student empowerment. The series emphasizes evidence-based practices, ethical awareness, and practical application to ensure participants can enhance learning outcomes while maintaining fairness, transparency, and academic integrity in their assessment approaches. After completing this course, participants should be able to:

  • Gaining a critical understanding of research and ethics surrounding AI in assessment.
  • Learning to design and evaluate AI-generated assessments and rubrics.
  • Using AI analytics to interpret student data and inform instruction.
  • Guiding students to use AI for self-assessment, reflection, and goal setting.
  • Applying AI-supported feedback strategies that promote growth and agency.

About Instructor

Maria Bejjani

Mrs. Maria Bejjani is a dedicated Middle School English Teacher and the Middle School Boys Grade Level Lead at Dubai Schools Al Barsha. With seven years of teaching experience, she brings a wealth of expertise in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Educational Technology, and fostering a culture of reading for pleasure among adolescents. Maria holds both a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a Master of Education from the American University in Dubai, where she graduated as valedictorian and maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her studies. Her academic excellence and commitment to lifelong learning continue to shape her approach to education. Throughout her career, Maria has led impactful initiatives, including launching reading for pleasure programs, designing and delivering professional development on using standardized assessment data to inform instruction, and implementing SEL-based classroom practices. Guided by a philosophy that values curiosity, exploration, and growth mindset, she strives to create inclusive learning environments where students feel safe to take risks, discover knowledge independently, and develop.
