Action Research in the Classroom

This five-week course is designed to empower teachers with the knowledge and skills to conduct action research within their classrooms. Participants will explore the process of identifying a problem, collecting and analyzing data, and implementing changes to improve teaching and learning outcomes. The training combines theory with hands-on application, enabling teachers to use evidence-based strategies for continuous improvement. After completing this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the fundamental concepts and stages of action research.
  • Identify and define a classroom problem or area for improvement.
  • Design an action research plan including data collection and analysis methods.
  • Reflect on findings and develop strategies for sustaining improvement.

Eligibility
This training is designed for K–12 educators, department heads, instructional leaders, and school administrators who wish to enhance their teaching effectiveness through reflective and data-informed practices. University students at the College of Education could also largely benefit from this course. Participants will benefit by developing the skills to identify classroom issues, design research questions, analyze results, and apply findings to improve instruction and student engagement.

About Instructor

Sandra Baroudi

Dr. Sandra Baroudi is the CEO of Eduvate, a professional development and training institute for educators and professionals, and an Associate Professor at Zayed University in Dubai, UAE. She is an expert in leadership and management in Education, an international journal reviewer, lecturer, trainer, and research consultant, with experience (more than 7 years) in academia in the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Baroudi holds a PhD in Leadership and Policy in Education from the British University in Dubai, UAE. Dr. Baroudi is a certified associate for the Blackboard Academy and a Fellow for Advanced Higher Education. She is a Peer Reviewer for Online courses from Quality Matters. She was a fellow for the Education Endowment Foundation in the UK and Queen Rania Foundation in Jordan, where she led the contextualization of the Teaching and Learning Toolkit into the Arab world context. In her work, Dr. Baroudi seeks to provide evidence-based data and best practices for leaders and educators in the Arab world with the aim of supporting their decisions to promote innovative and quality education.
