Developing Scientific Investigation Skills in Early Year

This five-week course is designed to equip Early Years’ teachers with the skills and knowledge necessary to facilitate scientific investigations among young learners. It is tailored to enhance teachers’ abilities to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and inquiry-based learning in the classroom. The course includes a series of activities, games, discussions, readings, and school-based homework assignments. Research indicates that early exposure to scientific inquiry positively impacts cognitive development, problem-solving abilities, and overall academic achievement. It also fosters innovation and creative skills, enabling students to design and build new solutions to problems. After completing this course, participants should be able to:
  • Implement pedagogical strategies to introduce scientific investigation in Early Childhood Education.
  • Design and conduct age-appropriate experiments and activities for young learners.
  • Apply inquiry-based learning methodologies effectively in the classroom.
  • Create an environment that nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and exploration among Early Years’ learners.
