Teaching Science with Curiosity – From Inquiry to Innovation

Sara Tabbara · October 25, 2025

This professional-learning series equips teachers to turn science classrooms into curiosity-driven, inquiry-based environments where students think, question, and create like real scientists. Many science lessons remain content-centered, limiting curiosity and cross-disciplinary thinking. Teachers need practical, research-based approaches to help students ask meaningful questions, collaborate, and connect science with other learning areas. This 5 week course responds to that need by modeling curiosity-based inquiry anchored in SEL competencies self-awareness, empathy, resilience, and responsible decision-making.The purpose is to empower teachers to design lessons that nurture both scientific reasoning and social-emotional growth, aligning with UAE Vision 2031 goals for innovation, sustainability, and global citizenship. After completing this course, participants should be able to:

  • Define the principles of curiosity-driven and inquiry-based learning.
  • Apply the 5E Model through interdisciplinary contexts (Science × Math × Technology × English).
  • Integrate AI tools and SEL strategies to foster critical thinking and teamwork.
  • Design and present mini-units that connect scientific inquiry with real-world innovation.
  • Build a collaborative teacher network for sustained practice sharing.
